Fair Lawn police charge River Edge man with 2012 burglary after release from Rikers

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A River Edge man charged in a 2012 Fair Lawn burglary was being held iln the Bergen County Jail after being released from Rikers Island earlier this month.

Robert Hudson entered the Hartley Place home through a rear window just before 5:30 p.m. Feb. 8, 2012, Sgt. Brian Metzler said this afternoon.

The victim reported cash, a camera and a GPS unit missing.

Borough Detective Jeff Welsh, assisted by Bergen County Sheriff’s Officer Brian Shore of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, collected evidence for analysis that produced a DNA match in September 2012.

Hudson, who was indicted on burglary charges by a grand jury in Hackensack 14 months ago, was located at the Rikers Island Correctional Facility in Queens.

He also faces burglary-related charges in Saddle Brook and was wanted on a 2012 warrant out of Morris County and a 2013 drug charge out of Pascack Joint Municipal Court.
