Hackensack's Humc Named 'Great Place To Work In Healthcare'

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Hackensack University Medical Center announces it has been ranked among the Great Places to Work in Healthcare for the sixth year in a row, according to Becker’s Hospital Review.

The 2016 “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” list includes U.S. healthcare provider organizations, such as hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgical centers and home health agencies; as well as other types of healthcare-specific companies, like consulting firms, health IT vendors, medical societies and more. 

A version of this list has been published every year since 2011, and HackensackUMC has been listed every year since its inception.

The medical center is the biggest employer in Bergen County, with more than 7,500 employees, nearly 1,500 physicians and 1,700 volunteers. 

HackensackUMC has received various accolades for its workplace environment. From 2011 through 2015, HackensackUMC has been accredited as a CEO Cancer Gold Standard employer for workplace wellness. Additionally, the medical center is a 2015 winner of SmartCEO's Corporate Culture Award, which honors businesses that have successfully championed a positive, productive and performance-driven culture, and have worked with their employees to develop successful cultural practices. 

HackensackUMC offers employees an array of benefits, including voluntary accident and life insurance, an adoption benefit, tuition assistance and pet insurance. 

The medical center also allows eligible employees to purchase new computers despite their credit status with payroll deduction. Weight Watchers is offered onsite, and there is a hospital-based fitness facility for employees.
