Deptford Olive Garden Worker Tests Positive For Hepatitis A
A food worker at an Olive Garden restaurant in Gloucester County tested positive for Hepatitis A, authorities said. The employee at the Olive Garden at 1500 Almonesson Road in Deptford, not a resident of Gloucester County, worked while infected between Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 30, according to county Health Department officials. An Olive Garden spokeswoman said they are not aware of any other employees or guests becoming ill. The infected food handler will not be able to return to work without a doctor's OK, she said. Seven Legionnaire's Disease Cases Found In Mercer County Water System: Health Department
Legionnaires’ Disease has been detected in the Trenton Water Works water supply, state authorities said. Seven people contracted the disease and two people have died since October 2022 in Mercer County, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. The seven newest cases occurred in Trenton, Ewing Township, Lawrence Township, and Hamilton Township, the state said. Twenty-eight municipalities statewide have been cited by New Jersey officials for excluding the LGBTQIA+ community in their online marriage license applications. The municipalities face fines of up to $10,000 if they don't fix the problem, the state said. Attorney General Matthew J. Bacteria that causes a certain type of pneumonia was found in a majority of water samples from about 30 Central Jersey homes, authorities announced. Legionella bacteria — which causes Legionnaires' disease — was found in water samples collected from more than half of 30 homes within several municipalities served by Trenton Water Works (TWW), the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) said Saturday, Oct. 15. 3 Cases Of West Nile Virus Reported In These NJ Counties
New Jersey has its first cases of West Nile Virus of the year, the state's health department confirmed. Three men tested positive for the virus in Bergen, Morris, and Ocean counties. Two are in their 50s, one is in his 80s, and all were hospitalized. Two were recovering at home and one remains hospitalized. WNV has also been detected in 293 mosquito pools and a red-tailed hawk this year in New Jersey. No cases of WNV have been reported in horses in 2022. The state has partnered with Vault Medical Services to send tests to residents via expedited shipping, the health provider’s website says. The first case of the new COVID-19 variant has been detected in New Jersey, state officials announced Friday. New Jersey residents can now legally sell baked goods from their homes, reports say. The home-based bakers are required to apply for a permit to run a “cottage food” business from their own kitchens, according to a report published by the New Jersey Department of Health on Monday. Five more people have contracted Legionnaires’ disease in Mercer County, and there has been a third fatality since the outbreak began last summer, authorities said. A New Jersey man has been infected with a rare mosquito-borne virus, state health officials confirmed Wednesday. A Sussex County man in his 60s started suffering a fever and various neurological symptoms in May and later tested positive for the Jamestown Canyon virus, marking the state’s first detection of a mosquito-borne disease this year.
