A 32-year-old former teacher from North Bergen has been charged with sexually assaulting a student at Carteret Middle School, authorities said. Jeffrey Munguia was also charged on Wednesday, April 24 with endangering the welfare of a child, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carterest Police Chief Dennis McFadden. Two People Injured In Crash Near Cape May County Beachfront
Two people were hospitalized after two SUVs crashed a couple of blocks from the beachfront in Cape May County, officials said. In a Facebook post, the Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company said firefighters responded to the crash at the intersection of 103rd Street and Second Avenue at around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 24. When emergency crews arrived, they found two people who were injured. Stone Harbor and Avalon paramedics treated the victims and brought them to a hospital. A photo of the crash showed front-end damage to two SUVs, including a silver Chevrolet Equinox.

A 44-year-old man has been charged with arson in connection with a blaze that broke out at a South Jersey church, police said. Brian Cannon is believed to have set fire to the Colonial Manor United Methodist Church on Elberne Avenue in West Deptford on Friday, April 20, local police said.
