'Special K,' Ecstasy Seized In Separate Lyndhurst Stops
Lyndhurst police made separate weekend drug arrests following traffic stops in the same area.
Officer Michael Clifford stopped an older model BMW with a cracked windshield and expired inspection sticker in the area of Polito Avenue and Wall Sreet West late Friday, Detective Lt. Michael Auteri said.
The vehicle also had a temporary license plate that, it turned out, belonged to another vehicle, he said.
The driver, Marco Ribeiro, 40, of Newark was carrying Ecstasy and was unlicensed, Auteri said.
He was charged with drug possession, issued traffic summonses and released pending a hearing. …
Thieving Essex Couple Who Came, Fled In Uber Caught By Lyndhurst Police, Authorities Say
Teamwork helped Lyndhurst police nab a shoplifting Essex County couple who tried to flee in an Uber, authorities said.
Chrisann Shaffer, 40, Bloomfield and Jeffrey Uhrig, 45, Newark, took a different Uber to the Walgreens on Valley Brook Avenue and ran off with a bundle of stolen merchandise after an employee caught them on Wednesday, Detective Sgt. Vincent Auteri said.
Both ran past the waiting Uber and temporarily vanished, Auteri said.
Detective William Kapp radioed ahead after learning that they apparently grabbed another Uber, the lieutenant said.

Lyndhurst PD: Unlicensed Repeat Offender Wanted On Warrant Fails To Signal, Busted With Heroin
A habitual offender from Rutherford who made a turn without signaling had several folds of heroin, along with a half-dozen empties, in his car, Lyndhurst police said.
Officer Christopher Cuneo stopped a 2001 Ford wagon around 1:15 p.m Thursday after Richard Graziano, 32, made a right from a Valley Brook Avenue parking lot near Town Hall onto Delafield Avenue without signaling, police said.
Graziano was “extremely nervous and didn’t make eye contact,” Detective Sgt. Vincent Auteri said.
After spotting several empty heroin folds on the floor, Cuneo got consent to search the vehicle, he said.…
