War Of The Birds: Jersey Shore City Will Continue Using Falcons To Fight Off Seagulls
Lifeguards won't be the only ones patrolling Ocean City beaches this summer, as falcons will be on the prowl up in the sky. Ocean City will continue using falcons to prevent seagulls from becoming a nuisance along the oceanfront. City council unanimously approved a resolution to award a $328,000 contract to East Coast Falcons. The falcons will be out at 8 a.m. or earlier to keep gulls from flocking to breakfast leftovers. NJ Turnpike Crash Victims Struck By Another Vehicle While Waiting For Help
A chain-reaction crash on the New Jersey Turnpike before dawn on Memorial Day sent several people to the hospital, authorities confirmed. It began with a rollover crash on the northbound western spur at mile marker south of Exit 16W in Lyndhurst, which NJ State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said was reported at 1:42 a.m. May 29. Memorial Day travel and rising oil costs have caused the price of gas in New Jersey to rise to record levels with no relief in sight for motorists. On Wednesday, June 8, the cost of gas per gallon rose to an average of $5.03 statewide, the highest recorded price since AAA began tracking such figures, according to the organization.
