Bergen SVU Charges Man With Sexually Assaulting Fort Lee Girl, 14

FORT LEE, N.J. -- A divorced chef from Union County was being held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with sexually assauling a 14-year-old Fort Lee girl.

Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said members of his Special Victims Unit arrested Jose D. Fernandez, 50, of Garwood on Oct. 8.

He was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment.

Fort Lee police "learned of what had occurred between [Fernandez] and the victim and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit," Molinelli said.
