Man Injured In Jump From Route 78 Overpass In Newark: Police
A man was hospitalized after he jumped from an overpass near Route 78 in Newark on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 23. At 4:13 p.m., police responded to the Fabyan Bridge Route 78 near Lyons Avenue after receiving calls of a man threatening to jump, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. State police stopped traffic in both directions of Route 78 beneath the overpass, Fragé said. A water main break certainly didn't ease rush hour traffic along Route 3 in East Rutherford Friday, Feb. 9. The break happened on the eastbound side, east of MetLife Stadium around 5 p.m., the New Jersey DOT website said. Two lanes and the shoulder were closed.

Downhill Tow Truck Slams Into North Bergen Home
A tow truck towing a USPS truck slammed into the porch of a North Bergen home on Friday, Dec. 29. The truck was going downhill on 73rd at Grand Avenue when the back wheels came off the ground, sending the truck flying down to Liberty Avenue, where the driver crashed into the porch of the home, Police Capt. Jorge Raposo said. Had the truck not crashed into the home it would've gone right into Route 1&9, which was experiencing bumper-to-bumper traffic, the captain said.

Occupant Ejected In Garden State Parkway Rollover
A victim was in traumatic arrest after being ejected in a rollover evening rush-hour crash at the northern end of the Garden State Parkway, responders said. New Jersey State Police summoned a medical chopper following the crash on the southbound parkway at mile marker 166.8 Pascack Valley Toll Plaza in Washington Township shortly after 5 p.m. Given the severity of the injuries, they opted to have the unconscious, unresponsive victim taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center. Box Truck Spins, Lands On Route 287 At State Line
A box truck ended up on the median on Route 287, clogging post-Labor Day traffic at the state line, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the mishap in Mahwah shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. Three men were in the truck, which apparently was carrying exercise equipment for a Brooklyn-based freight company when it spun around in the rain and hit the divider. Teen Driver Rear-Ends Cement Truck On Route 21
A teen driver was hospitalized after rear-ending a cement truck on Route 21, authorities said. A 17-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a Hyundai when he rear-ended a cement truck on Route 21 in Nutley on Friday, May 27, police said. The driver went unconscious and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The cement truck driver suffered minor injuries. Route 21 was closed and traffic detoured for just over two hours for the crash investigation and cleanup.

A delivery truck barreled off Route 17 in Paramus when its driver had a medical emergency, responders said. The Ski Barn truck ended up in a water detention area on the southbound highway just past the Garden State Parkway around 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 17. The occupants of a car that overturned Monday afternoon on westbound Route 4 in Paramus got themselves out, responders said. The Volkswagen rolled in front of 35 Plaza shopping center, which includes a Houlihan's, Starbucks and Roadrunner Sports, among other businesses. Paramus police, firefighters and EMS responded.
