Newark Woman Fatally Stabbed: Prosecutors A 66-year-old Newark woman was fatally stabbed on Wednesday afternoon, June 7, authorities said. Police responded to the 200 block of Sunset Avenue and found Annie Gooden suffering from apparent stab wounds,  Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Gooden was pronounced dead at the scene, Stephens and Fragé said. Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Authorities A 37-year-old Newark man was shot and killed early Friday morning, May 19, authorities said. At 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 100 block of Lindsley Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Soon after, they received a report on the 200 block of Sunset Avenue and located Wesley Murphy in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Stephens and Fragé said. Haywood Covington, 29, has been wanted by police since Thursday, March 31. He owns a 2020 blue Ford Fusion, which was found with a bullet hole at the scene of a shooting on the 100 block of Sunset Avenue around 10 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. Newark Man, 22, Fatally Shot A 22-year-old Newark man was fatally shot over the weekend, authorities said. Tyree R. Quinones was shot on the 100 block of Sunset Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m., Sunday, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:55 am today. The investigation is active and ongoing. Christopher Barnes, 54, was caught on surveillance tapes taking the package from a car parked on the 100 block of Sunset Avenue Wednesday, around 12:45 p.m.,  Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said. Barnes, of Newark, is 5 feet and 7 inches tall, 150 pounds with brown eyes, gray hair with a dark complexion, police said. Newark Woman, 18, Fatally Shot; Fourth Killing In City Since Saturday An 18-year-old from Newark died in a shooting that left two other people wounded, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.  Nakiyyah Miller was shot in the 100 block of Brunswick Street around 3 a.m. She was pronounced dead at University Hospital about an hour later.  The two other victims are a 16-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man, both from Newark. No arrests had been made as of midday Friday.  Miller is the latest victim of deadly violence in the city in recent days.
