Montclair Resident Fatally Struck By Vehicle Police in Montclair have identified the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle over the weekend. Vivian Folkenflik, 83, of the Township, was struck at Bellevue Avenue and Park Street around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Montclair Police Chief Todd Conforti said. Folkenflik was transported to Mountainside Medical Center and pronounced dead at 1 p.m. The driver remained at the scene. $15,000 Worth Of Items Snatched While Homeowner Away: Montclair PD A man who returned to Montclair after two weeks out of state was in for a rude awakening, authorities said. On Monday, July 10, a man reported to police that when he returned to his home on Park Street, he discovered his home had been burglarized, with $15,000 worth of items taken, officers said.  The burglar entered the home by force through a basement bathroom window, police said. The burglar then proceeded to rummage through the home, and took jewelry, purses and gold coins, police said.

Montclair Bus Driver Hospitalized In Crash With 14 Students The driver of a Montclair school bus was hospitalized with minor injuries after an accident Friday morning. Fourteen Hillside School students were on board when the bus struck a utility pole and fire hydrant around 9:05 a.m. at the intersection of Park Street and Wildwood Avenue, Sgt. Terence Turner said.  A passenger vehicle was also involved. No other injuries were reported. The crash was under investigation.

Woman, Teen Girl Approached In Pair Of 'Suspicious' Incidents: Montclair PD A Glen Ridge woman and a 13-year-old girl both reported being approached by men in incidents that occurred within an hour of each other Thursday, police in Montclair said.  The two complainants also described a similar vehicle involved in both incidents, police said.  Around 3:15 p.m. a 13-year-old girl and a friend were walking near Cooper Avenue and Park Street when a dark brown or dark gray minivan pulled up. Man Tried To Abduct Teen Off Montclair Street Police in Montclair are asking the public's help finding a pair a man who tried to pull an 18-year-old woman into a car Sunday.  The woman was walking on Park Street near Watchung Avenue around 3:20 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up next to her. A passenger got out and tried to grab the woman, police said.  She managed to fend off the man and ran home.
