Unlicensed, Uninsured Driver Climbs Out, Walks Off, Gets 14 Tickets After Cliffside Crash
An out-of-state driver with no license, registration or insurance was apparently intoxicated when she rear-ended a pickup truck at a busy Cliffside Park intersection, then climbed out of her overturned SUV and walked away, authorities said.
Caitlin Riggs, 36, of Wakefield, RI was headed south on Anderson Avenue at Edgewater Road when her 2015 Nissan Versa slammed into a 2011 Dodge Ram shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, Deputy Police Chief Vincent Capano said.
The Versa landed on its roof outside the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, while the pickup had its bed crumpled and a tire flattened.

Passenger, 72, Critical, Driver, 70, Hurt Following Crash On Hudson Waterfront In Edgewater
UPDATE: A crash Wednesday afternoon in Edgewater critically injured a 70-year-old passenger and also sent her 72-year-old driver to the hospital, authorities said.
The severity of life-threatening injuries to the passenger brought the Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigations Unit, along with borough police, firefighters and EMS.
The women, both from Cliffside Park, were in a 2007 Toyota Corolla headed south on River Road that suddenly turned left into the gated Independence Harbor housing development around 2 p.m., Police Chief Donald Martin said.

Popular Bergen County Hair Stylist Theodore 'Uncle Teddy' Schmidt Dies
Bergen County hair stylist Theodore E. Schmitt, affectionately known as "Uncle Teddy," died at Palisades Medical Center on March 17.
He was 69 years old.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Teddy traveled the world doing hair shows, eventually settling in Fort Lee, his obituary says.
He later went on to become the partner at Theo Haircutting in NYC and Cahce in New Jersey, and owned Le Magnifique in NYC.
"To know Teddy, you knew he was larger than life itself, and his presence brought joy into any room he entered," his obit reads.

'Healthy, Strong' Newark Airport Worker Dies Of Coronavirus, Coworker Says
A United Airlines employee who worked at Newark airport died of coronavirus despite being healthy and strong, his coworker says.
Carlos Consuegra, 52, of Union City, worked as a ramp service employee in Terminal B and died Tuesday of the virus.
Marco A. Alva, Sr., who worked in Terminal C, told NJ.com that Consuegra looked healthy until March 17 -- when he fell asleep on a company tug.
Consuegra was sent home and was evaluated at Trinitas Medical Center in Elizabeth, where he passed out and then was diagnosed with an ear infection, according to Alva.
