Franklin Street Near City Hall In Newark Closed For Construction In December
Franklin Street between Mulberry and Broad streets in Newark will be closed beginning Wednesday and through Dec. 23, police said. The closure is in effect seven days a week and is in place for the Newark parking deck project. The street cuts through a downtown area that includes the post office, city hall and the municipal court. Those who regularly travel in the area are encouraged to allow extra time and to plan alternate routes.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announces that a number of streets will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday due to a film production. Victim In Second Weekend Fatal Shooting In Newark Identified
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office released the name of a man killed late Sunday night in Newark. Jamal Williams, 29, of East Orange, was shot in the 200 block of Mulberry Street shortly before 11 p.m. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital. The shooting occurred near the Prudential Center, but there were no events at the popular entertainment venue at the time. Authorities are investigating a pair of shootings over the weekend that occurred near two different nightspots in Newark. Filming for a movie is happening Friday and Saturday in Newark and a number of streets will be closed to traffic, police said.
