Superior Court Judge Ronald D. Wigler sentenced 36-year-old Fayola Howard to five years in State Prison for the death of 55-year-old Kevin Thomas, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Howard was arrested while trying to board a plane at Newark Airport on Feb. 18, 2020. Jersey City Man Charged In Newark Homicide A 19-year-old Jersey City man was charged with murder in the shooting death of a 42-year-old Newark man, authorities said Thursday. Akram Brown was shot on Mt. Vernon Place in Newark on Wednesday, and pronounced dead at the scene at 8:02 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Seen HIM? Missing Newark Man, 23, Suffers From Schizophrenia, Depression Authorities are asking the public's help in locating a missing Newark man. Shawn Valentine Hartfield, 23, lives with family in Newark and was last seen going to the store at Eastern Parkway and Mt. Vernon Place between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Thursday, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said in a release. He reportedly suffers from Schizophrenia and depression, Ambrose said. Hartfield is between 5 feet 2 and 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He has brown eyes, a medium brown complexion and black hair, Ambrose said.
