Body Of Missing Paterson Swimmer, 19, Recovered From Delaware River Emergency crews have recovered the body of a missing swimmer from the Delaware River after a three-day search. Jose Madera Martinez, 19, of Paterson, was found around 11:15 a.m. Sunday, July 16 near Kittatinny Point in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, according to a release from the NPS. Madera Martinez was last seen “struggling in the current” around 8 p.m. Thursday, July 13 at Karamac — located about a mile north of Route 80, Daily Voice reported. Body Of Missing Delaware River Swimmer Found The body of a swimmer who went missing last week in the Delaware River was found over the weekend, WFMZ reports. Christopher Schofield's body was found by a park visitor around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, near Kittatinny Point within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the outlet said. The 23-year-old Stroudsburg man had last been seen around 8 p.m. Tuesday, when he tried to swim across the river from Prices Landing, to New Jersey. Click here for more from WFMZ.

Newark Man, 25, Drowns In Delaware Water Gap Park A 25-year-old Newark man drowned at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on Saturday afternoon, officials said. The man, whose name was not released, was swimming near the Coppermine parking area off Old Mine Road in Warren County, parks spokeswoman Kathleen Sandt said. Multiple calls for a swimmer in distress came in around 3:50 p.m., and patrol rangers located the man's body around 5 minutes later, Sandt said.  The victim's body was recovered from the water 4:25 p.m., officials said.
