NJ Transit Officers Stop Suicidal Jumper In Hoboken
New Jersey Transit Police helped save a person in distress in Hoboken recently. A person had crossed over a safety railing at Hoboken Terminal, aiming to jump into the Hudson River, police said. Police used physical restraint to prevent the person from jumping, while engaging in dialogue with the person, officers said. Along with the Hoboken Fire Department, police were able to assist the person back to safety, where they received medical attention. A four-alarm fire caused a building in Union City to collapse in the early hour of Friday, April 14, the second major fire in the city this week. Six firefighters were hospitalized while knocking down a Hoboken fire as temperatures neared 100 degrees this weekend. The blaze at 219 Washington St. broke out just before 3:15 p.m. Saturday, July 23. Jersey City firefighters assisted in ventilating the building. The cause of a fire that destroyed several businesses and left two people dead in Hoboken has been identified, authorities announced. The Dec. 20 Jackson Street fire began in the back of the building at Glass & Vapor House LLC and the Cause has been ruled an accident, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. One of two victims of the Monday night’s fatal warehouse fire in Hoboken have been identified, authorities announced. Rose Marie Vos, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene as responders doused the fire at 38 Jackson St. around 12:20 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A 61-year-old man also died in the fire, though his name is being withheld pending family notification, Suarez said. Body Found Floating In Hudson River Off Hoboken
Authorities are trying to identify a person found dead in the Hudson River near Hoboken on Tuesday*, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said. Police received a call from someone who reported seeing a body floating near the Lackawanna Terminal around 3 p.m. The Hoboken Fire Department assisted in the retrieval of the remains, the prosecutor's office said.
