UPDATE: Police were justified in shooting a New Jersey man seen on bodycam video charging at an officer with a knife, a grand jury investigation required by state law found. Luke Mendez, 26, had his wrapped around the knife handle as he barreled down the steps of an Old Bridge home last April 24. Mendez was only two steps from the landing -- less than three feet from an Old Bridge officer -- when he left police no choice. Mendez was pronounced dead at a local hospital about 90 minutes later. Body Cam Recordings Of Fatal Edison Police-Involved Shooting Released
The Attorney General’s Office released video footage on Friday, May 13 from three body-worn cameras related to a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred on April 12, in Edison. The shooting victim has been identified as Merrill Rambarose, 49, of Edison. The officers who fired their service weapons at Rambarose have been identified as Officer Daniel Bradley and Officer Joseph Elqumos of the Edison Police Department. WARNING: The videos are graphic. Longtime Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose will retire in March after 34 years on the force. Ambrose's final day in the division will be on March 31, Mayor Ras J. Body camera footage released Friday shows a diabetic Paterson driver who died following a traffic stop having a medical episode in the back of a State Police cruiser. Troopers handcuffed Sergio Rodriguez, 51, and led him to the marked SUV after finding heroin in his car during a June 27 stop outside their Totowa barracks on Minnisink Road, the footage released by state Attorney General Gurbir S.
