Newark Police are attempting to locate two people who they say forced a woman into a minivan and made her withdraw $9,000 from her bank account on Monday, July 3. The incident occurred at 4 p.m. in the 100 block of Adams Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The suspects grabbed the woman by the arm and made her get into a blue Toyota Sienna where they threatened her and demanded money, Fragé said. A 26-year-old Newark man was arrested nearly two hours after kicking a woman out of an SUV and driving away in it when the vehicle was spotted by a keen-eyed officer, authorities said. The victim called police around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday saying she was sitting in the passenger's seat of a relative's BMW when a man -- later identified as Tazmire Morris -- jumped in the driver's seat, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. Authorities in Newark are seeking the public’s help identifying the suspects who used a stolen vehicle in an armed robbery Monday night. A man approached a taxi driver after exiting the rear passenger side of a light gray 2020 Jeep Cherokee near the 300 block of Chestnut Street around 10 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said. Police in Newark have arrested a man they say stole four ATMs within the past two months. Leonardo Aquino, 34, and an accomplice were caught on surveillance footage sawing a machine from its base and stealing it from a laundry room on Lincoln Ave. on Nov. 22, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. No charges will be filed or summonses issued against the driver of a truck that leaked a 3-mile slick of used vegetable oil in Newark's Ironbound last week, police said. As it passed through the area around 3:40 p.m. Oct. 15, the truck left behind a trail on Wilson Avenue and on Stockton, Delancy, Adams and Thomas streets, snarling traffic as Hazmat teams covered the oil with sand. Police in Newark are looking for the person who robbed someone of their cell phone in the East Ward Tuesday. The suspect (pictured) approached the victim at Adams and Lafayette streets around 4 p.m. and demanded his belongings.
