Prosecutor: 1 Dead, 1 Injured In Essex County Double-Shooting

One victim died and another was injured in a double-shooting in Essex County over the weekend, authorities said.

Eliameau Maxime, 32, of Orange was shot on Union Avenue in Irvington early Saturday morning, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said in a joint release with other county officials.

Maxime was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:10 a.m., Stephens said.

A 23-year-old was also shot but survived, authorities said.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
