Summer From Hell: Amtrak CEO Stepping Down
Amtrak's CEO Wick Moorman will be stepping down and replaced by former CEO of Delta and Northwest airlines Richard Anderson, multiple sources report. Both members of the public and politicians have been blasting Amtrak for a series of delays and disruptions at Penn Station leading up to a massive push for repairs. Service in and out of Penn Station is expected to decrease by 25 percent from July 10 to Sept. 1, thus affecting 600,000 commuters on Amtrak, NJ Transit and the LIRR. Click here for more from CBS. Construction Shuts Parts Of George Washington Bridge
There could be some congestion Wednesday around Bergen County. Construction is being done on several local highways. Below are the areas to avoid: Route 17 near Route 4 in Paramus. Left lane closed until 1 p.m. Route 17 N. between East Saddle River Road in Paramus and Lake Street in Ramsey until 3 p.m. Route 17 in both directions near I-287 in Mahwah. The right shoulder will be closed until 3:30 p.m. George Washington Bridge: Eastbound at New Jersey Side/Upper Level Toll Plaza in Fort Lee closes right side until 3:30 p.m.

Holiday Weekend Traffic Hell Begins In Bergen County
BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. – Looking to beat the Memorial Day traffic? Curbed NY says head out now. Traffic software company INRIX expects travel times to popular destinations, like the Jersey Shore, to double this year, Curbed said. INRIX expects peak rush hour out of the New York Metro Area to come between 3 and 4 p.m., so you still have a chance to escape. You still might get used to that back bumper in front of you. Toppled Car Carrier Spills Junked Heaps Onto I-95 In Fort Lee
FORT LEE, N.J. -- A car carrier filled with already-junked vehicles tipped in the express lanes of NYC-bound I-95 in Fort Lee, creating a traffic headache as the Wednesday evening rush was about to begin. State Police said the driver sustained minor injuries. There was no immediate word on how long the cleanup would take.

Local Fort Lee streets were thick with the overflow, while highway traffic stretched for miles into Englewood around 5:30 p.m., they said. Just your typical Friday jam up.

No injuries were reported but commuters had significant delays Friday night after a Penn Station-bound train broke down in a Hudson River tunnel between Manhattan and New Jersey. Approximately 1,200 commuters were affected, New York City's Office of Emergency Management reported. Reported delays of up to 45 minutes continued until 5 o'clock. A team had to assess the damage before the train eventually made its way to Penn Station, according to NYC Fire Wire. Daylong Delays Continue After NY Penn Station Train Derailment
Train service between Newark and Manhattan continued to be diverted in and out of Hoboken for the rest of Monday after a morning NJ Transit train derailment that injured at least five people, none seriously, authorities said. PATH trains in and out of Hoboken were subject to delays of up to a half-hour as of just before 5 p.m. Limited service resumed on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines with delays. Paramus PSE&G Project Jams Route 4
PARAMUS, N.J. -- Traffic crawled along Route 4 westbound in Paramus Monday due to roadwork that shut the right lane. The roadwork under the Spring Valley overpass is part of a PSE&G upgrade of the statewide utility infrastructure. The utility company is in the process of installing 69kV transmission circuits to connect PSE&G stations around the state. Crash Closes Westwood Road
WESTWOOD, N.J. -- A stretch of Harrington Avenue in Westwood was temporarily closed after a Sunday afternoon crash. No serious injuries were immediately reported in the crash at Berkeley Avenue around 4:30 p.m. River Vale BLS was dispatched for the victims and a towing company for both vehicles. Harrington was closed from Lexington to Berkeley.

Broken Road At GWB Bus Station Moves Jitney Commuters
FORT LEE, N.J. -- A partial road collapse at the 178th Street ramp off the George Washington Bridge from New Jersey forced jitney bus commuters a block over. Temporary plates had to be put down over dowel bars that were sticking out of the roadway. Commuters who ordinarily board jitneys on the upper bus shell were being redirected to 179th Street and Fort Washington Avenue.
