Two charged in holdup of Cliffside Park juvenile in Fairview

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A second man charged in the robbery of a 17-year-old Cliffside park boy in Fairview last week was being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, the same as his alleged accomplice, following his arrest over the weekend.

The boy told police that both men approached him on Anderson Avenue early last Tuesday night, pushed him into an alley and took an iPhone and $220 in cash.

One of them — later identified as Majk Selimi, 18, of Cliffside Park (above, right) –took out a gun and pointed to his stomach during the holdup, then put it away and pulled a knife, the victim said.

The pair then walked him to a bus stop, forced them on to a bus and threatened to kill them if he told anyone, Detective Capt. Martin Kahn told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The boy then went to police headquarters.

Detectives reviewed area surveillance video that showed the robbers walking him to the bus stop, Kahn said.

He later identified both — one of whom was a neighbor’s friend, the captain said.

Selimi was arrested  just past midnight after Cliffside Park police made a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle in which he was a passenger. He was charged with robbery, various gun possession counts and theft.

An arrest warrant was issued for the second man, identified as Miguel Rapalo of Fairview, also 18 (above, left), who was subsequently arrested late Friday/early Saturday. He’s charged with three weapons counts, robbery, resisting arrest and theft.

Curiously, police called to a fight on Anderson Avenue and Cliff Street in Cliffside Park found Rapalo there. He ran, police said, but they caught him moments later.
