North Jersey Man Drowns At Jersey Shore Beach: Police
An Essex County man drowned in the ocean at a beach along the Jersey Shore, authorities said. Spring Lake police responded to the beachfront near St. Clair Avenue for a swimmer in distress at around 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, the department said in a news release. The first officers at the scene found a man floating face down in the surf and he was pulled out of the water for life-saving measures. The 23-year-old Belleville man was treated by paramedics before he was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the Neptune hospital. Police also warned…

Tommy's Tavern + Tap has an opening date for its newest location, and announced one more. The fast-growing restaurant chain is opening in Cherry Hill later this month and will soon bring another location to Sea Girt, the business said. A restaurant chain specializing in fresh salads and other healthy food options is opening its first location on the Jersey Shore this week. Just Salad will hold the grand opening for its location in the Brook 35 shopping plaza on Route 35 in Sea Girt on Friday, Feb. 2, the company said. Thousands of New Jersey residents remained without power on Monday, April 3, more than a day after the tornados that barreled through the region. According to JCP&L, 2,401 Ocean County residents were in the dark as of 10:50 a.m., most of them being in Jackson — where a tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service. Authorities have identified the woman killed in a house fire in Belmar on Wednesday, March 15, authorities said. NJ Woman Struck, Killed By DUI Arizona Football Player: Reports
New Jersey native Norah Bruther was struck and killed by an Arizona State University football player over the weekend, authorities said. Bruther, 23, of Sea Girt, was crossing Camelback Road in Scottsdale, AZ when she was struck by 22-year-old Sun Devil Stanley Kambert around 1 a.m. Saturday, Fox10 Phoenix reports. Bruther, a senior associate at Ernst and Young, was allegedly visiting Scottsdale at the time of the incident. A rookie police officer avoided serious injury after slamming his SUV into a home and a trailer between in Sea Girt on Tuesday evening, authorities said. The 27-year-old Class II officer was on his way to a first aid call at Ocean Boulevard around 5:45 p.m., according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.
