Scooter Rider Killed In Jersey Shore Crash Involving Police Officer, State AG Says
A man riding a motorized scooter was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 35 in Monmouth County that involved a local police officer, state authorities said. The crash occurred on the highway's southbound side near Sunset Avenue in Ocean Township shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, April 15, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said on Tuesday. Authorities have identified the 24-year-old man killed in a single-car crash over the weekend on Route 35 in Sayreville. A Point Pleasant apartment building was damaged in a fire Sunday afternoon. Smoke and flames were coming from a second floor apartment window when crews arrived at the Beacon Gardens Apartments off of Route 35 around 1:40 p.m. Crews from Point Pleasant and Wall worked to knock down the blaze, which was under control in approximately 20 minutes.
