James T. Stevenson, of Burlington, died at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden on April 16, according to an obituary published by Page Funeral Home. He was 55 years old. Jim had worked as a police dispatcher for several departments in Burlington County before the 911 operations were merged into Central Dispatch.. A volunteer firefighter, he also was a member of the Burlington City Fire Police and served as a fire photographer, his obituary said. A Burlington mother is asking for help after losing everything in a house fire. Kashira Hannah's daughter Ka’Leah remains sedated on a ventilator after getting trapped in the fire, according to a GoFundMe campaign. "I ask for prayers and anything that you are able to give to help me and my children," she wrote. "I need all the help I can get as I rebuild our lives and find a new home." It was not immediately clear where the fire happened, however, firefighters rescued several people from a home on Route 130 Easter Sunday, according to 6abc. Carl Dye, Jr. of Burlington, died on Friday, March 1 after battling some health issues, according to an obituary published by Page Funeral Home. He was 52 years old. He worked for Brook-Wood Gardens for many years, his obituary said. Carl was a dedicated firefighter and continued in his family tradition of volunteering for close to a century, his obit said. Carl served as fire chief of East Windsor Fire Company 2 (46) and was past president of East Windsor Fire Company 1 (42), his obit said. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is developing a digital visitors vehicle map that can be used to navigate the 124,350-acre Wharton State Forest. A 26-year-old woman was airlifted to the hospital and three other people suffered minor injuries in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington, police said. Jessica Cardona, a mother and internal affairs detective with the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, died on Dec. 9, 2023. She was 46 years old. The Burlington mother leaves behind her husband Kenneth Cardona; sons Dazani DeLeon, Jerel DeLeon and wife Angela, and Devian DeLeon. She was born to Santos and Carmen Hernandez in Puerto Rico, her obituary says. A 33-year-old man from Burlington has been arrested for breaking into cars in Brick Township, authorities said. A 36-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting another man in Burlington, authorities said. A tornado watch is in effect for 10 counties in New Jersey until 11 p.m. Monday Aug. 7, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado watch includes Mercer, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties, the NWS said.
