Born in Weehawken, Wisniewski was the superintendent of schools for Weehawken Board of Education for 15 years. He retired in 1995. He was a football coach for Weehawken High School for many years. He was an avid golfer, and a member of Weehawken Golf Club and Glades Country Club, in Naples, Florida. He was also a private pilot.
