Trio Killed In Parkway Crash Mourned By Loved Ones
Condolences were pouring in Tuesday, Aug. 8 for the three victims killed in last weekend's crash on the Garden State Parkway. Sabrina Kontos, 24, of Ocean Grove, Dion Bullock, 27, of Asbury Park, and Omar Williams, 28, of Eatontown, all died in the 9:50 p.m. accident in Port Republic (Atlantic County) Sunday, Aug. 6, New Jersey State Police said. The car, driven by Kontos, struck the rear of a Toyota then left the southbound lanes of the highway and struck a tree near milepost 44.6, police said. 3 Killed In Crash On Garden State Parkway
Three people were killed in a crash when their car left the Garden State Parkway and struck a tree, authorities said. The crash occurred at 9:52 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 6 on the southbound lanes of the highway near milepost 44.6 in Port Republic in Atlantic County, according to New Jersey State Police. A Kia struck the rear of a Toyota, causing the Kia to lose control and run off the road and hit a tree, State Police said. It's that time of the yea: Time to buy beach badges or plan where you'll spend your free time this summer. The 130 miles of Jersey Shore offers about 50 public beaches to choose from. Daily, weekly and seasonal beach badge and tag prices have been set for the 2023 season. The highest seasonal fee at $150 is in Deal. The historic Asbury Park Casino building, located at the southern end of the boardwalk, is closed indefinitely, authorities said. The building was closed on Monday, May 8, following an inspection. The announcement drew an outpouring of despair and criticism on social media. NJ Prisoner Beats Fellow Inmate Dead, Authorities Say
A 29-year-old New Jersey man has been charged in the beating death of a fellow 49-year-old inmate, authorities said. Evan Raczkiewicz, of Bradley Beach, struck Daniel Ferrara, of Ocean Grove, multiple times before he was found unresponsive in the kitchen area of the Monmouth County Jail around 5:20 a.m. Sunday, April 17, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said. Ocean Grove Man Charged With Torching Perth Amboy Bar
A 36-year-old Jersey Shore man was charged with torching a building that left five bar patrons injured, authorities announced. Rey Zarzuela-Severino broke a bar window and set a fire within the Casanova Lounge on State Street in Perth Amboy around 3 a.m. Sept. 6, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Perth Amboy Police Chief Larry Cattano said. An Asbury Park police officer and a former city Special Law Enforcement Officer have admitted to vandalizing vehicles owned by someone who filed an internal affairs complaint against them, authorities said. Asbury Park Man Pleads Guilty To Starving, Neglecting Pit Bull
An Asbury Park man pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to animal cruelty for causing injury to a pit bull terrier dog named Destiny, authorities said. Andre Parker, 34, of Asbury Park pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and hindering apprehension, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said in a statement. Prosecutors recommend that Parker spend 364 days in county jail, Gramiccioni said.
