Ex-Atlantic City Basketball Star Admits Hiring Hit Man: Prosecutor A 34-year-old Atlantic City convict has pleaded guilty to hiring another man to commit murder, authorities said. Khalif Toombs was sentenced on Thursday, Sept. 14 in connection with the shooting death of Lamir King, 21, also of Atlantic City, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Toombs pleaded guilty to first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, the prosecutor said. Convict Charged In Murder-For-Hire Scheme In Atlantic City: Prosecutor A 32-year-old convict from Atlantic City has been charged in a murder-for-hire scheme, authorities said. Khalif S. Toombs has been charged with conspiracy, hiring someone to commit murder for payment or promise of a payment and weapons offenses, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Toombs already is serving an 11-year sentence in federal prison.  On Jan. 1, 2019, the Atlantic City Police Department was dispatched to the 700 Block of North Ohio Avenue where they located Lamir King unconscious and unresponsive inside a motor vehicle.
