Thousands In Maryland Without Power While Storms Roll Through Region
Tropical Storm Debby wreaked havoc for some residents in Maryland as wild winds and heavy rains left thousands without power on Friday afternoon.
A total of 704 active outages were reported by Baltimore Gas and Electric as of 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, which were impacting 14,526 of the company's 1,332,781 customers.

An arrest has been made in the 2017 killing of an off-duty Metropolitan DC Police Department officer, thanks to a tipster who came forward last year, authorities announced.
Dion Thompson has been arrested for his alleged role in the murder of MPD Sgt. Tony Mason, Jr., on Nov. 4, 2017 in the 2800 block of Elgin Avenue, Baltimore City State's Attorney Ivan Bates announced on Wednesday, April 17. Thompson, who was 18 years old at the time, has been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy, and other related offenses, officials said.

Tens of thousands of residents throughout the DMV region are in the dark as whipping winds and heavy rains have knocked out power to some neighborhoods and businesses.
With the worst of the storm yet to come, as of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9 Baltimore Gas and Electric crews were still working to repair 720 active outages impacting 34,513 of the company's 1,348,380.

Thousands in Maryland remain in the dark days after severe storms left extensive damage and flooding in parts of the state.
As of 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug 9, Baltimore Gas and Electric was still working to repair 1,034 active outages that were impacting 15,067 of the company's 1,340,384 Maryland customers.

A 29-year-old man may spend the rest of his life behind bars after terrorizing several Maryland businesses during a daylong crime spree throughout Baltimore, federal officials announced.
Baltimore resident Keith Poynter, Jr. has become the latest to be convicted for his role in a 2019 series of armed robberies, all committed in one day, and for discharging a weapon during one of the incidents.
He was convicted by a jury following a four-day trial.
