NJ Rep. Reveals Illness That Led To Monthslong Absence From Congress
Rep. Tom Kean, R-NJ, returned to Congress for the first time since March, revealing what had kept him out for so long.
“Several months ago, due to health concerns, I entered the hospital for some testing,” Kean said in a speech on the House floor. “I was given the diagnosis of depression. Many people think it is feeling sad. It is so much more than that. It is physical, it is emotional, and until you experience it yourself."
The congressman, who had missed more than 100 votes due to his previously unexplained absence, said it was hard to understand "how powerful this illness could be."…
