A sexual predator who preyed on a 15-year-old student he was tasked to teach in Maryland has been apprehended out of state for alleged sexual abuse on school grounds, authorities announced. The FBI announced that one minor is “believed to be responsible for the “majority of the threats" that have been targeting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country and throughout the region. A STEM teacher at a Jewish high school in Baltimore has been fired after being charged with child pornography offenses, school officials said. Administrators at Bnos Yisroel of Baltimore issued an alert to parents advising of an ongoing investigation regarding Zev Steen, who apparently has a child enrolled in the school, was charged with possessing and distributing child pornography. Maryland Student Test Scores Alarm Educators, Majority Fall Below Basic Achievement In Math
Maryland student scores followed a national declining trend on the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), continuing a downward trend that began in 2013 and worsened during the pandemic. The NAEP is a biennial assessment of fourth and eight graders for the subjects of reading and math. It measures achievement at four levels: below basic, basic, proficient, and advanced. University of Maryland To Cover Tuition, Fees For Eligible In-State Students
The University of Maryland has announced a new $20 million program that will help cover tuition for eligible in-state students.
