The US Coast Guard needed the help of a Maryland State Police helicopter on Sunday afternoon to help rescue a man who found himself stranded on the Elk River in Cecil County. Police say that its Aviation Command Unit was called in to hoist a man to safety after his boat became stuck and inaccessible in a marshy area near Crystal Beach in Earleville. A pleasant day on the Bohemia River in Cecil County turned tragic for a boater who died when their vessel unexpectedly exploded, officials said. One person was reportedly killed at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 in the area of Veazey Neck when a boat went up in flames 100 yards off the shore in Earleville. Police are searching for the driver of a boat that struck another vessel on the Magothy River, killing a Pasadena woman late Monday night, reports Fox 5.
