Worcester Man Admits To Killing Mother Of 2 In 2019 Fatal Stabbing: DA A Worcester man will spend life in prison after admitting to the brutal 2019 murder of Jenifer Vazquez-Rivera, authorities announced on Monday, Jan. 6. Thomas Bergstrom, 42, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and will be eligible for parole after 25 years, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said. CT Man Exposes Himself To Women Inside Southington Walgreens: Police A 37-year-old Connecticut man was arrested after police said he exposed himself in a "sexual manner" toward women inside a Walgreens last week. Jose M. Valdivia, of Waterbury, is charged with two counts each of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct, Southington police said. Good Samaritan Pulls Driver From Burning Car After Crash In Monroe A Connecticut driver is likely alive today because of the quick thinking of a stranger, authorities said. The two-car crash happened Saturday night, Jan. 4, on Purdy Hill Road near the intersection with Teller Road in Monroe around 7:15 p.m., firefighters said. The crash crushed the doors of a sedan, trapping the driver inside as a small fire began to grow beneath the car. Car Fire Leaps Onto Westport Home Causing Major Damage To Garage A car fire in Connecticut spread to a home this weekend, causing heavy damage to the vehicle and house, authorities said. Blaze Rips Through Newtown Home; Family Escapes Without Injury Fire tore through a Connecticut home late last night, leaving significant damage but no injuries, authorities said. Firefighters were called to the Newtown home around 9:30 p.m. The Botsford Fire Department said everyone inside was able to escape. Crews fought their way into the home and salvaged several personal items for the family, removing them from the home, while battling the fire. Woman Killed After Crashing Into New Britain Building: Report A woman was killed Friday night, Jan. 3, after crashing into a New Britain building, reports said. The crash was reported to police around 8:15 p.m. near the Grove Hill and Lake Street intersection, NBC Connecticut reported. The driver was reportedly found unresponsive. Amanda Demontigny, of Hanover, won the seven-figure prize playing the “$4,000,000 Bonus Money" game, a $10 scratch-off ticket. She elected to take the lump sum of $2.6 million (before taxes) rather than the annuity. Demontigny bought the ticket at Richdale Food Shops, 181 South St. in Hingham.
