On Tuesday, Nov. 26, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers responded to the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road for a reported shooting, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Tamara Jones inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound.

Jones was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries on Friday, Nov. 29, police said.

Detectives determined that Jones was shot during an argument with two people she knew, identified as 37-year-old Carlas Carter and 26-year-old Mary Ashby, both of Alexandria.

With assistance from law enforcement agencies in Virginia, Carter and Ashby were arrested and remain in custody pending extradition to Maryland.

They are facing pending charges in connection with Jones’ death. The shooting remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with additional information about the case to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department at (301) 516-2512.
