New Tornado Watch Issued For Parts Of DC, Maryland, Virginia
Some areas in the DMV are subject to a new Tornado Watch as Tropical Storm Debby continues moving through the region and up the East Coast. Tornado Watch Issued In Parts Of DC, Maryland, Virginia
A Tornado Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service as Tropical Storm Debby continues to batter the DMV region. Storms are expected to continue overnight, with upwards of four inches of rain possibly pouring in parts of the area, leading to increased risk of floods and "tropical downpours" as the storm continues to travel up the East Coast. The forecast track has shifted for Hurricane Debby, which is set to pass through northern Maryland and Pennsylvania, and drop torrential rain on surrounding areas late this week. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has declared a State of Preparedness as possibly wicked weather continues to head toward the region with Tropical Storm Debby continuing to move north up the coast. 1.8 Magnitude Earthquake Reported In Maryland: US Geological Survey
The US Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed that a small earthquake could be felt in parts of Maryland on Tuesday morning. Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on June 25, officials say that a 1.8 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter of Spencerville in Montgomery County hit the area, which could be felt all the way into Delaware and Howard County.
