Drug Dealer Avoids Life In Prison For Fatal Fentanyl OD Of Maryland Teen: DOJ
The Maryland drug dealer who authorities said sold the fentanyl dose that killed a minor will avoid a lifetime in prison. Silver Spring's Mikiyas Maryie Kefyalew, also known as “Mick,” 24, was charged with the distribution of fentanyl that resulted in the death of teen Landen Hausman, of Bethesda, US Attorney Erek Barron announced. The medical director of a pain management clinic in Maryland will avoid time behind bars for his role in a conspiracy to overprescribe prescription medication out of his office, federal officials announced. School Resource Officer Falls Ill Assisting With Student Overdose In Maryland, Sheriff Says
A Maryland student and school resource officer were both hospitalized during an investigation into a possible drug overdose, the Charles County Sheriff's Office announced. Authorities say that a school resource officer at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center was assisting staff with a student having a medical emergency as a result of a possible overdose, at which point he fell ill. Officials said that the officer locked packaged pills and suspected marijuana in the student’s backpack, and after locating the drugs, he began to feel sick. Trio Believed Dead Of Overdose Outside Maryland Apartment Building: Police
Three men died in what Hyattsville police say was a drug overdose this week. EMS personnel responding to a 911 call placed by residents on the 5700 block of Queens Chapel Road found the men unconscious and not breathing around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, local police said. Medics administered Narcan and performed CPR but were unable to revive the men. There was no visible evidence of trauma to their bodies. Investigation Launched After Alleged OD Victim Restrained By Police Dies
An investigation into a questionable death of a man who was suffering an alleged overdose while police handcuffed him has begun, authorities say. Police responded to a call in the 2400 block of Sherwood Avenue around 11:17 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 4 where they found an unidentified man being restrained by a bystander in the roadway, according to the office of the Maryland Attorney General.
