College Hockey Player On Life Support As Teammates Flag Workout Safety Concerns
A college hockey player is on life support after collapsing during a team workout, and teammates are challenging the schoolās account of what happened, according to multiple reports.
Matthew Mayich, 21, collapsed Thursday, Aug. 20, at Arizona State Universityās Sun Angel Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.
His familyās attorney, Rob Carey, said he suffered exertional heatstroke and is unlikely to recover, KJZZ in Tempe reported.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound sophomore defenseman from Stoney Creek, Ontario, was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL draft.

The break in the Maryland murder case led investigators to Washington, DC, where a 67-year-old man was arrested this month in connection with the fatal 2023 stabbing, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
Kevin Warbington, who has no fixed address, is accused of killing Milam, 33, whose body was found outside near the Hyattsville Crossing Metro station in the early-morning hours of Aug. 30, 2023.
