Fatal Crash: Police ID Fitchburg Man, 76, Killed While Crossing Street Authorities have released the name of the 76-year-old man killed on Friday night, May 19, who was killed after a car crashed into him as he crossed a Fitchburg street.  Mario Bratkon, of Fitchburg, was struck in the crosswalk of Water Street around 8:45 p.m., the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said. Paramedics airlifted him to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where doctors pronounced him dead.  The driver of the Toyota Corolla that crashed into him remained at the scene and spoke with police. Davaughn Coppedge, 23, of Springfield, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 25, around 6 p.m., and charged with drug possession, leaving the scene of property damage, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of personal injury, and operating with a suspended license, police said.
