A state trooper on patrol pulled a driver over after he ran a red light on Monday, Dec. 16 around 3:00 a.m. on Blue Hill Avenue, according to Massachusetts State Police. The driver was identified as 31-year-old Michael Williams, who turned out to not be properly licensed to drive a vehicle in Massachusetts.
On top of his driving violations, Williams, of Boston, had also been identified by the Boston Regional Intelligence Center as possibly illegally possessing a firearm. The trooper got Williams out of the car when he noticed a gun on the floorboard in plain sight.
Williams, who is not licensed to carry firearms, resisted arrest and ran away from the scene, chased by the trooper. The trooper did not catch up with Williams. Multiple agencies joined in on the hunt, searching for Williams for multiple hours before successfully locating him.
Once he was finally arrested, police searched William's car and found a Glock 17 pistol that had been modified to be fully automatic and loaded with 18 rounds of ammo. Also in the car was an AR-15 style rife loaded with over 30 rounds of ammo, and over a pound of marijuana.
Adding to the illicit items in the car were multiple brand new credit cards in Williams' wallet with names other than his.
Williams was charged with the following:
- Failure to stop
- Speeding
- Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
- Two counts of illegal possession of a firearm
- Two counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device
- Possession of ammunition without a FID card
- Carrying a loaded firearm
- Improper storage of a large capacity firearm
- Illegal possession of a assault weapon
- Illegal possession of a machine gun
- Resisting arrest
- Trespassing
- Possession of counterfeit credit cards
- Possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute
Williams is being held without bail and will be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.
