Dumpling Cafe Inc, a Boston eatery that serves up Taiwanese and Chinese dishes from its location on Washington Street, was closed and had its health permit temporarily revoked on Monday, May 22 due to a slew of health code violations, according to the Mayor's Food Court.

Inspectors found that the restaurant had no hot water for hand washing or dishwashing, requiring an emergency closure for the eatery.

Multiple other unsavory violations were found, including the use of an "old chicken box" as a storage container for cut produce, and a dead rat under a dish machine.

Despite its recent health failures, the restaurant has a 3.9-star rating on Google.

"I’ve never been dissatisfied with the food here," said one reviewer. "I love the pork soup dumplings! I get them every time."

Inspectors informed the eatery that it can request a hearing from the health department regarding unsanitary conditions and not notifying the department that hot water was not operating.
