Update: Massachusetts State Police announced on Tuesday, Sept. 12, that searchers found 84-year-old Jim Noon safe and alert. Noon suffers from dementia and wandered away from his assisted living community on Sunday. An employee of the Boston Red Sox and the Rockland Public School system has been arrested for allegedly trying to have an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl, authorities said. Peter Tolan, age 58, of Rockland, was arrested and charged with enticement of a child under 16 this week, East Bridgewater Police Chief O’Brien reports. Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Anthony Varvaro died in a wrong-way 9/11 crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said. Varvaro, a 37-year-old married father of four who became a Port Authority police officer, died in the head-on collision near Exit 14C, early on Sunday, Sept. 11, they said.
