An 18-year-old man wanted in connection with the shooting of a detective in Massachusetts was immediately arrested after stepping off an international flight in Boston, police announced.
Denzel Gomes, age 18, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 14 by local, state, and federal authorities after stepping off an international flight at Logan International Airport, Massachusetts State Police announced.
According to police, Gomes was wanted in connection with the shooting of an undercover New Bedford police detective on July 17, 2023.

A 24-year-old Lowell man has been indicted for the murder of his mom after she was found beaten to death in July 2023, according to officials.
Michael Belous, 24, was arrested after his mom Elena Vainer, 51, of Reading, was found barely breathing and beaten shortly before 1 a.m. at his condo on Middlesex Street on July 17, 2023, the Middlesex District Attorney said.
Belous was charged with assault and battery on a household or family member and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury.

Ski-Masked Man Makes Failed Getaway From Billerica Storage
A man who tried to break into a storage facility in Billerica has been arrested by K9 troopers after leading state police on a high-speed chase, while driving a U-Haul van and wearing an orange ski mask.
Alexander Encarnacion, 29, of Providence, Rhode Island, was driving a 2008 Ford Econoline U-Haul van when he, and other people in a sedan, tried to break into a Billerica storage unit on Monday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 p.m., the facility’s manager said.

Investigators have identified the three people killed in a Sunday, Jan. 14, plane crash in Franklin County as a student pilot, his instructor, and the owner of a flight school.
They are:
William Hampton, age 68, of Indian Orchard
Chad Davidson, age 29, of Woodstock, Connecticut
Fredrika Ballard, age 53, of Southwick
Ballard owned Fly Lugu Flight School and Hampton was an instructor. Davidson was taking flying lessons, Massachusetts State Police said.

An elderly Methuen woman was killed and an elderly man is in critical condition after a drunk driver rear-ended their car in a hit-and-run crash in Andover on Saturday, Dec. 30, authorities said.
Constantino Quispe, 76, and Luzmila Medina Quispe, 75, both of Methuen, were in the backseat of a 2009 Honda Fit hatchback traveling on I-495 north, south of Exit 99, when a 2014 Ford Edge sedan crashed behind them, Massachusetts State Police said.
