Chelmsford Police Officer Dies 2 Weeks After Cancer Diagnosis An active-duty Chelmsford police officer who "put others before himself" died suddenly after a short but "courageous" battle with cancer.  Timothy Bourke, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford and police officer since 1993, died on Sunday, May 7, according to the Chelmsford Police Department.  Bourke was diagnosed with cancer only two weeks before his death.  "We will miss his laughter, smile, and willingness to put others before himself always," said the announcement made by the Chelmsford Police Department.
