Update: Police Suspend Search For Missing Kayaker In Central Mass Update: Police and rescue crews have called off the search for a man they feared missing in a Worcester County reservoir on Friday, Aug. 18.  A man was seen fishing from a kayak Thursday morning, but the kayak was found capsized hours later without the angler.  A new surveillance video uncovered Friday shows the man launching the kayak at the Whitins Reservoir in Douglas Thursday morning. Missing Kayaker From Springfield Found Dead In NY Lake After 16-Day Search A western Massachusetts man who disappeared while kayaking at a lake in upstate New York has been found dead more than two weeks after he was reported missing. The body of Hampden County resident Frederick Mayock, age 47, of Springfield, was recovered Monday, Nov. 7, from Canadarago Lake in Otsego County, located about 52 miles west of Schenectady, New York State Police said. Man Dies After Kayak Overturns In Western Mass A Western Mass man died after his kayak overturned in an area pond. John Reynolds, age 58, of the Town of Richmond in Berkshire County, died Thursday, Dec. 9 at Berkshire Medical Center after his kayak overturned in Richmond Pond. Around 7 a.m. Berkshire County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting an individual in Richmond Pond calling for assistance, said Berkshire District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Andrew McKeever. Body Found In Western Mass River ID'd As Missing UMass Student, DA Says A body found in the Connecticut River has been identified as a college student who was reported missing last year. The body of Wasique Hasan, age 21, of Easthampton, Massachusetts, was discovered in Hampshire County Friday, May 21, by a boater in Hadley, said the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. No foul play is suspected.
