Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Parts Of Region With Strong Winds, Tornadoes Possible A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now been issued for parts of the region. It lasts until 11 p.m. Monday, June 21, and covers Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Greene, Albany, Columbia, Delaware, Otsego, Rensselaer, and Schenectady counties in New York, Litchfield County in Connecticut, and Berkshire County in Massachusetts. The watch was issued on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 3:10 p.m. It will last through 10 p.m. Tuesday. At 3:30 p.m., several lines of storms were moving from west to east. The main threat will be damaging winds, with gusts up to 70 miles per hour possible, the National Weather Service said. Isolated hail up to ping-pong size, downpours and frequent lightning are also possible. The highest likely time frame for the storms on Monday, July 13 is in the afternoon. "Localized damaging wind gusts and flash flooding are the main threats with these storms," the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued on Monday morning.
