Detectives have released surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the man they believe is responsible for last week’s murder of a Maryland convenience store owner. Mohammad Hanif of Annandale, VA, was found suffering from head trauma as officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man at a business on the 900 block of Larchmont Avenue in Capitol Heights around 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5. Federal officials say that a Maryland man is behind bars for a double murder and shooting of a third victim in Southeast DC last year. Bowie resident Amarii Fontanelle, 20, is facing multiple counts of murder and other offenses after being indicted for the October 2022 killings of Reginald Cooper, Jr., and Davonte Berkley. A Maryland man has been sentenced to more than two decades in prison for butchering a friend to death in Southeast Washington, DC, federal prosecutors announced. Suitland resident Herbert Smallwood, 42, has been sentenced to 275 months in prison for the murder of Joseph Ogundoju after following his far for several blocks in June 2021. As if he knew he was being watched, an armed man locked eyes with surveillance cameras at a Virginia hotel where he burst into a hotel room and sexually assaulted a woman on Saturday, Oct. 1, according to footage and information released by police. Police have released surveillance footage in hopes of identifying a suspect who robbed a Montgomery County Wendy's, authorities say. Detectives responded to reports of a strong-armed robbery at the restaurant in the 14000 block of Connecticut Avenue around 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 21, according to Montgomery County police.
