Homeless Armed Robbers Targeted MD 7-Eleven Stores During Short-Lived Crime Spree, Police Say
Two people have been arrested for a pair of recent armed robberies in Maryland, authorities announced.
Stephen Lavance Oates, Jr., 35, and Katrice Ceclia Wood, 29, were arrested and charged for robberies committed Monday, Jan. 8 and Wednesday, Jan. 10, Montgomery County Police said.
Oates, Jr. and Wood, who have no permanent addresses, were donning masks when they entered the 7-Eleven on the 14100 block of Georgia Avenue around 2:50 a.m. Jan. 8 and demanded the workers not to move.

A brother-sister duo who were known to police in Montgomery County were arrested along with two others on a host of charges stemming back to a traffic stop more than three months ago.

Two men are facing federal charges in Maryland for an explosive scheme that saw them set fire to convenience stores in an effort to rob ATMs, according to officials.
Stephen Kennedy, 33, of Temple Hills, Maryland, and Donnell Kelly, 33, of Washington, DC, have been charged on a 10-count indictment by a federal grand jury on a host of charges following a yearlong conspiracy.
Prosecutors say that between January 2021 and January 2022, the pair conspired to commit arsons at 7-Eleven stores so that they could obtain cash contained in ATMs inside the stores.
