Emergency crews were called at around 12:15 p.m. Monday, June 24, after a single-engine Piper PA-28 plane made an emergency landing on Fire Island’s Atlantique Beach. Two people were on board and there were no reports of injuries, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Swimmer Drowns At Hampton Bays Beach A 54-year-old man died after being pulled from the water at a Long Island beach. Emergency crews in Southampton were called shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, June 24, for a drowning victim at Altenkirch County Park, located in the hamlet of Hampton Bays near Dune Road and Road H. Another beachgoer removed the man from the water and performed CPR, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Southampton Town Police identified the man as Peter Dzakonski, of Hampton Bays. A second man at the beach was also hospitalized after reporting chest pain and difficulty breathing.

The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, in the parking lot of Eastern Suffolk BOCES in North Bellport, located on Martha Avenue. Suffolk County Police said a driver struck a 31-year-old Coram man and a 41-year-old Ronkonkoma woman as they walked through the parking lot. The driver then fled the scene.
