Falling Tree Sets Off Series Of Events Leading To Fatal Crash In Chesapeake Beach, Sheriff Says One person was killed and a second suffered critical injuries after striking a falling tree in Calvert County, according to the sheriff's office. Gerald Robertson, 59, has been identified as the person involved in the fatal crash that was set off by a tree that landed on a Range Rover that was traveling through Chesapeake Beach on Wednesday night. Shortly before 7 p.m. on Feb. 7, members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office were called to the intersection of Route 261 (Bayside Road) and 13th Street in Chesapeake Beach to investigate a reported crash that left two with serious injuries.
