Richard Ganyon Killed In Owings Motorcycle Crash

A 52-year-old motorcyclist was killed overnight after losing control of his Harley and crashing off the roadway in Calvert County.

North Beach resident Richard Evan Ganyon, Jr. has been identified by the sheriff's office as the person whose body was found following a crash in Owings.

Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff's Office were called shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Monday night to the 3700 block of Chaneyville Road in Owings to investigate a motorcycle crash.

Upon arrival, they found a 2004 Harley-Davidson just off the roadway alongside Ganyon. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Investigators say that Ganyon was riding north on Chaneyville Road when for unknown reasons, lost control on the unpaved shoulder, left the road and he was killed in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
