Man Stabs Ex-GF Dead In Maryland Home, Flees To DC: Police
A Virginia man is in custody after police say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend dead during an argument at her Maryland home on Tuesday morning, April 9.
Kevin Derr, 50, of Alexandria, was charged with first- and second- degree murder and other offenses, in the death of Wendolyn McKoy, 47, Prince George's County police said.

Three men were given prison time for their roles in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in Northwest DC in 2020, authorities announced.
Two District residents and a man from Maryland are all heading to prison after admitting to their roles in the fatal shooting of Taijhon Wyatt that also left another person injured, according to the Department of Justice.

Much of the region is under a flood watch ahead of a heavy rain storm expected to arrive Friday night, March 22 and last through Saturday, March 23, the National Weather Service says.

Winter weather has replaced the unseasonably warm weather over the weekend, and now parts of Maryland are facing a fresh batch of wet, heavy snow, officials are warning.

New Forecast: Increased Snowfall Totals Expected, Arctic Temps To Follow Northeast Storm
Newly-released forecast maps show parts of the region could see up to six inches of snow in the end-of-week storm.
Intermittent snow is expected to begin between 4 and 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with the heaviest amounts falling in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
Snow will fall at about 0.5 inches per hour and will taper by the evening, with temps in the upper 20s and low 30s, the NWS said.

Tributes are pouring in for Jane Jordan Solberg, a devoted nursing educator from Howard County who died Sunday, Dec. 31 at the age of 33.
Born in Georgia, Jane graduated from the McDonogh School with honors in 2008, discovering her passion for theater, singing, and dancing along the way, her obituary says.
She went on to pursue a career in nursing and eventually earned an advanced degree during the COVID pandemic.
