Authorities ID Possible Cause Of Silver Spring Fire That Hospitalized 14 The cause of a Silver Spring fire that injured more than a dozen people, including one child, on Thursday, March 3 is still under investigation, but officials say it may be linked to a maintenance worker. Child Among Nearly Dozen Injured In Explosive Silver Spring Apartment Building Blaze (Updates) At least ten people including a small child with burns were hospitalized in a fire that tore through an apartment complex in Silver Spring on Thursday, March 3.  The second-alarm fire broke out at a four-story home at the Friendly Garden Apartments on Lyttonsville Road.
